Tonya & Bauer Unleashed

We just finished our last private lesson yesterday and we are so happy!

When we rescued Bauer from the shelter 4 months ago she was a sweet but very nervous and unbalanced dog. We tried training at a local pet store in Huntersville, NC and also “doggie downers.” Nothing worked and we were beginning to think we’d picked the wrong dog.

Today I am amazed at how far Bauer has come. She never took another pill after our 1st lesson with Greg and has shown amazing improvement.

Now we have perfect walks, a dog that comes when called (even if she’s chasing squirrels) and a much more laid back well balanced dog.

I can’t wait to see another level of greatness from her once we start group classes!

No more sore arms from leash pulling, just enjoyable long walks and a dog that hears AND obeys.

You’re the best Greg!

Cash UnLeashed This is a long overdue thank you, but  Turk, You have changed my life.
(And Cash’s)  I was almost to the point of trying to find Cash a new
home, when I took a gamble on another trainging method.  I figuered
since the PetSmart “training” did NOTHING but waste $200 for me and
Cash, this would be a similar experience.

Boy, I couldn’t have been more wrong!

After the first lesson, Cash was already easier to deal with.  I actually started running my house instead of Cash!  He never used to be a welcome guest when I would go to my parent’s or friend’s house.

Now, Cash gets invited and I can tag along!

He and I are living such a happy life together now.  I can take him anywhere, and be totally comfortable that he won’t do anything out of line.  It is just life altering.  I get stopped all the time by people in the neighborhood asking how I got my dog to be so respectful and mindful!

I brag and gloat and show Cash off all the time, and just couldn’t be happier.  He even holds his head higher!
It seems like a really big investment, but if I had known how everyone’s life would change for the better with Cash, I would have gladly paid triple!

Thank you Turk, for encouraging me that Cash could be like Seven with a little work!  I never would have believed it.

You are a saviour!

Eternally grateful-
Katie and Cash Burton

Ginger has been transformed from being the Object d’Alpha in this household to having more freedom than ever because of the amazing work you did with her during her two week stay with you and Jill, 7, Djembe and Zilli.
GInger-Unleashed.jpg
As you know, Vizslas are a special breed. Ginger is sweet, gentle, loyal, driven, focused, highly intelligent and likes to be in charge. And she was! Now she is even sweeter, equally as gentle, loyal beyond words, driven, very focused and I’m in charge. And it’s easy! Life in our place is stress free and full of doggie love.

As you may remember, I parked my car at Frazier Park just in front of your truck with 7 inside, along with a client’s Boxer. Ginger pulled me across the grass to see you, to lick your face and say hello. When you came over to evaluate Ginger you noticed my copy of the Alchemist and told me you read it once a year. It was at that moment I understood what kind of a person you are, and I asked if you believed in Karma.

You understand dogs, and you understand people. You get it that good things come to good people. I’m so impressed with your abilities to calm a worried, frustrated owner as well as to calm a frustrated and confused puppy.

When I take her to the park now she loves to show everyone how well she behaves, how she can not only jump on the picnic table, but over it as well and leaps over the puddles of muddy water with many dogs in hot pursuit! People ask about her training, they know who you are…”Is he nice…was he kind to Ginger”?

My response is always “Turk is the best guy, period”.

Turk,

Did you realize when you chose your profession that you were going to do so much more than train dogs; that you were actually going to change people’s lives?? You have certainly done so for me.
My boxer, JJ, is the love of my life.
Amanda&JJ.JPGThat said, the same creature that brought so much love and joy to my life also brought a great deal of frustration and exhaustion. At times, I felt like a prisoner to him and his behavior. JJ didn’t listen to me, and I almost sensed him laughing at me during my attempts to correct him. Jumping on the counter, chewing on everything BUT his toys, dragging me during walks, these were all part of our daily routine. But worse than all these things combined was JJ’s tendency to aggressively jump on anyone who came in his path, stranger or not. Not only was it embarrassing, but it forced me to avoid people on our walks and fear inviting people into my home. I couldn’t take him to a park or a sociable location. I was afraid it was just a matter of time before I got sued.

That’s when you came in and saved us! I had seen what you had accomplished with JJ’s equally maniacal friend Diego, though I still didn’t fully believe JJ could be changed. Just before you arrived to our first session, JJ jumped and tried to bite one of my neighbors. After our very first session, later that same day, JJ was docile with that very neighbor he went after earlier in the day. I was so taken aback by his immediate improvement, I began to question whether you had drugged him!

The next day, feeling a bit adventurous, I took JJ to Freedom Park to see how he’d do. I let him walk without a leash and he stayed by my side the entire time. People actually came up to me and complimented me on how well behaved my dog was. I had to laugh. If only they knew how outrageous he had been his whole life up until 48 hours before.

JJ has continued to make progress, and though we aren’t yet at perfection, he is miles away from the dog he used to be. I can take him anywhere without feeling any anxiety as to what he might do. With your help in reversing our roles, with JJ now in the submissive role, his energy level has gone from maniac to manageable. I cannot remember the last time I had the thought, “what was I thinking getting a dog?”

To anyone on the fence as to whether training with you is a good investment or not, you have them call me. It’s the best money I have ever spent, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Amanda & JJ

Hi Turk!

I wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for your unbelievable work in helping me train my 1.5yr Vizsla super-charged pup, Diego.

IMG_4035F.jpg

Prior to your Sit Means Sit program, Diego was an unruly beast who mistakenly thought he was the alpha. Problem was, I wasn’t sure how to tell him otherwise. He’d bark at strangers, jump on visitors, steal food off the counter. My super effective “baaaaad dooooog!” was losing its luster with me and its effectiveness with an increasingly confident Diego. Worst yet, he was becoming increasingly more unreliable with the most important of commands “Come!”, and I was worried about his safety. Diego was frequently earning his nickname Diablo.

My girlfriend and I are very active and enjoy taking our dogs for long hikes. But the hikes were decreasing in frequency and length because “Diablo” was pulling heavily on-leash, despite having an easy leader/halti that would eventually rub his snout raw (literally on long hikes…). With an increasing adolescent storm of misbehavior, I realized that I needed to do something or I’d never have the kind of relationship I wanted with my dog – an obedient, well mannered, and reliable off leash dog that I could show off to visitors, and not wince with anticipation of what he was going to do next.

In 12 short days and only three 1-hour sessions, what you did with Diego is nothing short of amazing. Diego is now coming when called without fail, sitting patiently when friends come to visit, has stopped nuisance barking, stopped jumping on people, and is now UNLEASHED!!

Turk, you told me this was possible, but I expected it to be 2-3 months into training at best… but not less than 2 weeks!

I can now safely enjoy walks with Diego OFF LEASH, and no longer worry that he won’t come when called.

The weight off my shoulders is indescribable.

Unless your dogs are there, I now have the best behaved dog at the dog park!

I researched Sit Means Sit a great deal before moving forward. Your free demonstration certainly sealed the deal for me. Your program makes large claims, but certainly over-delivers.

Thank you for bringing out the potential that lied within my dog. I’m working towards having the perfect companion and a relationship with my dog I didn’t think was possible.

I can’t thank you enough, and look forward to taking Diego even farther in his training.

Regards,
Bryan Shugg and Diego the Vizsla

” On a Friday night in June (2008), I was at the end of my rope with Lucy, my 11 month old Weimaraner.

Lucy “Goosey”
Photobucket
I was in Target, buying my friend’s birthday gift when I spotted a man walking in with a dog. I was thinking about how I wish my dogs would be well behaved like that. [As a matter of fact,
I had just finished praying; asking God to prevent Lucy from shredding yet another sofa while I was at the birthday party. The crate was not working for Lucy either as she freaked out everyday, when we put her in. She chewed through one crate, and typically, after being gone for an hour or two,

I would return home to a dog and a crate that had been covered in paw-painted feces.

I was really about to lose it.]

Anyhow, I thought I would spy on the guy with the store to see how he managed his pup. While spying, I saw that the man’s shirt said “Sit Means Sit” Finally, I approached the man, (Turk) and I asked if he was a dog trainer. After immediately swapping contact information with him, we booked an appointment the following Monday for a demo. After seeing his dog “Seven,” in action, I knew he could help if anyone could.

After a few training sessions, Lucy is fantastic! She listens to everything I say to her, and I can take her with me to places where I cannot take my 7 year-old border-collie mix, Ziggy, who I thought was already the best dog in the world.

Because of Turk and the Sitmeanssit training curriculum, my Lucy Goosey and I have a much better quality of life together.

We can go places together without me fearing that she will run off and get hurt, and I don’t fear that she is going to jump on someone and get me sued.

Additionally, there is something to be said for having a well behaved dog in a public place with a great deal of distractions.

A guy in a public place with a poorly behaved dog looks like an idiot.

Thanks to Turk and Sit Means Sit, I am no longer that guy!

Thanks Turk! “

Dear Turk,

Three weeks ago I was a sad, disappointed “mother” to a rambunctuous 8-month-old male pug named “Bamboo.”

Bamboo the pug Bamboo is the successor to our beloved male pug Pogo who died of prostate cancer last November at the age of 9. We still own his sister Jade.

We obtained Bamboo when it became obvious that Jade was grieving and lonely. We thought he would be a good companion but did not realize the age difference would have such a huge impact. That’s when I called you.

Bamboo had been nipping Jade, trying to get her to play, but ultimately she did not welcome his playfulness. He had also begun to think of himself as head of our household and we were losing control, chewing, having accidents in the house, etc. As a result, all of us — George, Connie, Bamboo and Jade – were unhappy.

Just two weeks into our work with you Bamboo is a changed dog!

He is well-behaved, responding VERY well to commands using the remote collar.

He sits quietly when asked to, comes to us on command, is walking pleasantly on the leash and is learning that there is a specific place for him to bring his toys and play and hang out with the rest of the family. He obeys our command that he stay “off” Jade.

Overall he has become a little darling.

I can’t wait to see how he progresses through the remainder of his obedience training and acclimation.

I am convinced that Bamboo would have had to leave our family had we not hired you to teach us how to teach him.

Thank you for helping us to re-establish a happy household!

We can recommend you without any reservation whatsoever to anyone who needs to train their dog!

Best personal regards,
Connie Knight.

We have an almost-2-year-old Yorkshire/Rat terrier mix named Arthur.

Arthur
daddys b-day 014
Before his (and our) Sit Means Sit training, he was hyper, food aggressive, a submissive pee-er, and pulled on the leash like a one-dog dogsled team making record time across the Arctic. In short, everything you would expect of a terrier.

We had tried other puppy training courses, books, and videos, and while he could sit/down/stay when he wanted to, he obviously didn’t think of us as pack leaders, and made it abundantly clear that he respected us only for our food-providing abilities.

When we started training with Turk, we noticed an almost immediate shift in Arthur’s personality. By the end of the first week, he was walking contentedly on a loose leash, slightly behind us, and rarely pulling or trying to chase squirrels. Over the course of the program he became almost like a new dog, no longer aggressive with his food or bones, calmer and more loving, and we’re even able to prevent the urination when he meets new people and dogs! On or off the leash, he listens and behaves so well now that we can take him all sorts of places, including coffee shops, art galleries, and restaurants.

Our relationship with Arthur is much closer, richer, and more mutually enjoyable than it has ever been before.

We honestly believe that this near-miraculous transformation would not have been possible with any method other than Sit Means Sit.

After Eleanor bit Annie’s friend who stopped by our house we were out of answers. This was the final straw.
Eleanor.JPG
How had Eleanor changed form a malnourished, neglected pit-bull that would hide in the corner out of fear, to a dog that totally dominated our house? After five years of what we assumed was dog aggression, struggling to go on walks, and only having our closest friends and family over (those that were not scared at least) we were at our wits end. We knew Eleanor was a sweet dog, but her behavior outside of our home and around strangers was unacceptable. Annie and I had no clue how to talk to her, and the yelling and leash jerking was not working. We both loved Eleanor so much, and wanted her to live out her days with us and our future children, but how could we do this if we could not even trust her around our adult friends? We decided we needed to get a trainer involved. The first trainer we called would not work with pit-bulls, and we set up an appointment with a second trainer that never showed up. It was almost like fate when we saw Turk with his dog Seven outside of a restaurant a few weeks later. After I watched how obedient his dog was I had to talk to him. We exchanged numbers, and to my surprise the next morning Turk called me, and we setup a demo. At the demo I could immediately tell that Turk knew his way around dogs. Eleanor took to him very quickly and he had answers to all the questions we could ask. We were immediately able to tell a difference with Eleanor after the first few lessons. I am happy to say that after 5 weeks we are able to walk with Eleanor off leash (we used a pronged collar, gentle leader, and a harness and all we got out of it was injuries to our dog); guests can come over to our house without the fear of being attacked, she listens to commands from a distance, has begun the socialization process with other dogs (I still can’t believe it) and our over all quality of live is much better. We always knew that Eleanor was an incredibly smart and sweet dog; we just needed Turk to teach us how to communicate with her. Turk is extremely accessible and easy to work with. We can tell he has a genuine interest in Eleanor’s development, and in Annie and I becoming better trainers. The three of us are fortunate to have Turk in our lives.

Turk -

I have a different dog already! I cannot believe how effective just one session was! I just had JJ outside and the very same guy he attacked earlier today was able to approach him while JJ remained submissive and even docile!

Believe it or not, I had him OFF LEASH at Freedom Park for 2 hours yesterday and he was such a good dog. I actually had people come up to me and make comments about how well behaved he was.

Trust me when I say, that has NEVER happened before.

Amazing!

Thanks again,

Amanda

We have two beautiful border collies Cody and Kyla.
kyla and cody.JPG
We love having the high energy, agility, and the intelligence of the border collies. We wanted to have even more bonding with them and explore the world with them even more.

Kyla is very smart and is a strong willed dog. Before Turk and Sit Means Sit Training Kyla would want to walk ahead of the pack, would not come and would rather pay attention to other things than me.

Now when we walk I just lay the leash over my shoulders and we walk together in a pack formation. When we walk around the neighborhood people are commenting on how well behaved our dogs are and how they wish their dogs would walk like ours. It is hard to explain in words the bond I now feel with my dogs. It is an amazing feeling that just increases every time we go out. Kyla just got the go ahead on her search and rescue training and we are so excited. Now not only will we be able to bond and share in the joy of her, but others will too. The training is amazing on communicating with our dogs on and off leash. With the great information and training from Turk and we can only improve. I know people are always skeptical about getting through issues and trying new ideas. We would not do something if it was cruel or mean in any way to our animals. We are supporters of ASPCA organization. This tool is a way to help a dog achieve balance in their lives and make the pack (both owners and dogs) stronger. Life is about learning and growing, it is about the journey. We are going through the journey with our dogs and enjoying it even more so now with the help of Turk!! We still have more training to do, but I have full confidence that with Turks help and Sit Means Sit training we will only become a stronger and more fulfilled pack.

“Turk is an amazing genius!! My 5yr old pit bull/lab mix Tyche was a terror with other dogs.

tyche unleashed.jpg

She’s always been SUPER sweet with people, but would drag me down the street to try to eat other dogs. Clearly she was in control of our ‘relationship’. Okay, but with the cool collar, Tyche is more obedient in other ways, which helps contain or decentralize her aggression toward dogs. I have to work with her every day, but she has gotten so much better! We walk to the coffee shop off leash (it drags behind her). A neighbour was shocked, “Was that *your* dog walking with you off leash?” She asked. I was very proud.

Recently, we even went to the DOG PARK OFF LEASH!!! It was incredible and I’m so proud of Tyche. With Turk’s help, she was able to walk through a crowd of dogs and ignore them. She followed my commands and even let some dogs sniff her without freaking out.

My hope is to continue to take her to get her more and more socialized as she used to be when she was a puppy, and to play with other dogs again. It is a process that would not have existed without Turk’s fantastic, calm, experienced and intuitive skills. He is very able to recognize behaviour, pyschology, and communication with dogs, and can explain this to the handler (me) so that I can employ it on my own time. I definitely would NOT have had the energy or composure to work with Tyche without the skills I have learned from Turk.

I feel confident and comfortable with Turk, and would recommend him (and do recommend him) to anyone and everyone. He is a very charming and easy-going person, punctual and responsible as well. At first, I called him *all the time* when I had questions. He *always* answered the phone or called me back right away. And I will continue to call him when I need him!!

We went to the mountains recently, and Tyche and I went swimming and hiking off leash, I’ll send a pic soon of her ‘placing’ on a picnic table!

Attached is a pic from the dog park with Seven (who initially she tried to destroy *through* my apartment window when they first met).”

Turk,

Thank you so much for “showing us the light.” In the few short weeks you spent with us and Riley it was amazing watching her transform from Mrs. Hyde to Dr. Jekyll.
Riley.jpg
Before meeting you our dog was a mess: an uncontrolled, hyperactive, head-of-the-house, on top of the world 1 _ year old Weimaraner. Running her 2 miles a day and taking her on multiple walks was just not enough to calm her down and get her to act the way we always envisioned the perfect dog to act.

From jumping on and “attacking” any visitors with excitement to dragging my poor wife to the ground during walks, our dog was terrible. The final straw was getting a call from Emily one morning after Riley had once again had her way with her during their walk, dragging her for miles and not responding to any type of command, we decided it was time for a change.

That day we looked online and read numerous testimonials on different trainers and training methods and without thinking twice called you to give us the help we needed and we have never looked back.
Before the first session, when taking her into any pet store, Riley would constantly jump on us, other customers and knock everything over in excitement. Now, we have honestly had people comment when passing by about how they wish their dog could be as calm and obedient as ours.

Riley now controls her excitement when meeting new people and has not jumped on anyone since the first lesson. We no longer have to walk her on a leash and she can now play freely, unleashed, and responds to any of our commands no matter what the distraction maybe. It’s a great feeling and a true testament to the job you have done in working with us.
With your help, the quality of all our lives has been improved. We cannot say thank you enough and are truly grateful to now have such a well behaved dog. Thanks Turk!

Our pride and our joy is our dog. Toy Australian Shepherd. (yes..Toy)Quincy.

She is a whopping 6 pounds with all the personality of a full sized Aussie. Quincy is two years old, but somehow just recently picked up a lot of bad habits.

Quincy

She was barking a lot, and getting VERY people aggressive with new people coming to the house. Moving into a new house, she thought she was “protecting” it and us.

Quincy basically ran our house, ate when she wanted, did whatever she felt like doing, and most of the time we were unknowingly “rewarding” her bad behavior.

After Quincy bit someone for the first time, we didn’t know what to do.

We called Off Leash Dog Training/Sit Means Sit because we had met Turk at Smelly Cat one day with his VERY well behaved dog. (you know the kind that you never think you could have…complete ENVY) Well now we do!! Quincy just finished her 3rd lesson and we could not be happier with the results. She is now a behaved, confident dog. She understands that we will protect her, and she does not need to protect us. the best part is we can bring her to group functions with no worries, AND walk her around highland creek with NO leash! Not even a squirrel phases her!

I had doubts, lots of them, and the first day was the hardest, but Greg (our trainer) knew what he was doing and made my husband and I fell completely at ease. I would recommend Greg to anyone that wants a well behaved dog. Quincy went from wanting to bite his head off the first day, to sitting beside me quietly when he came through the door yesterday. AMAZING! Now people can be envious of OUR dog!!

We could not have asked for better service. Thank you so much to Off Leash Dog Training / Sit Means Sit and Greg for helping us get that dog that we never thought was possible.

Sincerely,

Jay & Lindsey Tryon
